But what in the world do we have here? I originally drew the inside of Ellesmere Tower, as shown in the first panel of page 141, with my computer. The inside is (geometrically speaking) an octagonal prism, with a stairway about five feet wide wrapping around the wall. So we've got a smaller octagon underneath the stairs, and a larger one above. There are three orange octagons, distorted for perspective, with the darker orange in the lower two marking the thickness of the stairway. The vertical bands of green, yellow, and orange were to help me keep track of the corner lines. After I drew the basic lines in black on a separate layer, (and some of the bottom steps also had a red component), I printed out this black layer, and traced it in ink, adding all the cracks and other signs of age and wear. Then I scanned this ink drawing, slightly squeezed the top part with perspective to give it three-point perspective, added the pencil figures and printed this out, and inked the whole thing as usual.
If you compare this to the finished page 141. www.deviantart.com/cloudmonet/…, all this should be easier to follow! After this, I drew a lot of my building insides with the computer, especially when the perspective perplexed me for one reason or another. Whatever seemed easier to do!
