Some of the rulers were queens. I wonder if this counted as a new dynasty.

Japan has an unbroken lineage of rulers and claims it goes back to 660 b.c., tho historians discount names prior to c.250 a.d. as fictions. Sometimes a king failed to produce a male heir,but there was a daughter who app. married some nobleman who may have been related. The shogun families claimed descent from rulers.
