At our former summer home near the Catskills in NY, small salamanders could be found and always in wet places. They were one of the lifeforms that you will never find if you go looking for them. One was at the bottom of a jar full of rain water. It was looking at me. They don't have lungs and they breathe through the "skin". Also found at times: efts, frogs, toads, wood mice, field mice, shrews, skunks, deer, bears(!),turkeys, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, groundhogs, phoebes, thrashers, garter snakes, king snakes,chickadees,..

After my father died in 2003,mother talked me into selling the place.
