Behind Hana's Kauiki Head is red sand beach, with a little bay protected by basalt formations. I went there multiple times in January and February 1981. It rains a lot in Hana, but the rainstorms are small and brief. I saw rainbows almost every day I was there. I was sitting on the beach watching waves and saw a double rainbow. I quickly (and crudely) sketched the scene, intending to make a painting later. I tried. What color is the rainbow, really? The waves weren't very good either. But a couple days ago, I decided to try painting the scene digitally, attemting to use the same kind of blending tricks I used for "Wedding Dance" to make the rainbows really look like rainbows. It came out way better than I expected.

at first I thought that was a photo...
that's a beautiful scene with the rock in front and the rainbows on either side. I'd love to go there for a visit =D

Very lovely. I love how the inside rainbow is bolder, as is usually the case with double rainbows.

this is a beautiful picture. I do have to disagree with your critisizm on the waves, I think they look quite good

I meant the waves in the "real" painting I attempted of this scene some 20 years ago, not these. These came out great! Now if only I can figure out how to make real paint do this...
