Okay, here we go. I stumbled across a picture of a cute cockroach girl awhile ago, clearly from some manga or doujin, and recently got curious enough to look her up with a reverse Google image search. I won't risk getting any manga sites
or you tube videos in trouble by posting links, but here's the wikipedia article about her: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gokicha
Her name's Gokicha, her mangaka is Rui Tamachi. There's two doujin issues and 49 chapters translated into English available at the manga sites, and two eight minute flash anime episodes on youtube. The two doujin issues, labeled "chapter 1.7 and 1.8" at the place I read them, cover the anime stories. If you watch the second episode, it looks like Gokicha came to a bad end, but chapter 1.8 has the rest of this story.
There's very little continuity. Each (usually 8 page) chapter is a story unto itself.
Essentially, Gokicha the laudable cockroach is very like Casper the friendly ghost (in the earlier comics). All Gokicha wants to do is make friends with humans, who universally react to her as a disgusting cockroach. Whatever she tries to do gets misunderstood and misinterpreted. She gets sprayed with bug spray and runs away in tears. She gets stepped on, thrown into a garbage can, and finds something good to eat.
She has a friend, or maybe frienemy, named Chaba, another cockroach girl, who's kind of a parallel to Spooky. Chaba likes to cause trouble and get chased. Gokicha also eventually befriends a calico cat named Chocolat.
These cockroach girls are adorable. Their facial expressions are cute, and the two anime shorts, while very crudely animated, have good art and are quite hilarious.
